- Milton Man Is Found A Suicide
James B. Krauser, 57, Shimer Company Employee, Hanged Himself
A search that ensued after he failed to return home from work Thursday evening led to discovery of the suicide of James B. Krauser, 57, a well known employee of the S. J. Shimer and Sons Company at Milton.
L.C. Townsend, Milton, deputy Northumberland county coroner, said Krauser hanged himself with copper wire attached to a doorway leading from the second floor hall into a bedroom at his home, 29 Turbot Avenue, closed for the winter months.
The body was found at 8 o’clock, nearly six hours after death is believed to have taken place. Townsend said ill health was the motive. Krauser suffered a light stroke about two months ago. In recent days he had complained to fellow workers at the Shimer plant, where he was employed as an assistant secretary, of trouble with his eyes. He said he had difficulty with his work due to impaired sight, and that he was taking special treatment at Danville.
At noon he went to the home of his sister-in-law, Miss Mabel Yeager, 130 Broadway, where he and his wife were spending the winter months. He reported back to work at 1 o’clock, and shortly afterward left, declaring his intention of “going down town.” He did not return.
