Home of William McCleery 216 N Front St.

Dr. William McCleery was the owner of this house until his death in 1867. His son, Dr. James McCleery, lived here in 1900. By 1910 George Stout Shimer, President of Milton Manufacturing Company, lived here with his wife Libba Stuart (Moore) and children Miriam, Florence, and George Jr. The family moved in 1922 to the elegant Dickerman mansion (called Rose Hill) at 541 Broadway.
