Home of Clarence A. Chapin (The Ivies) 615 Broadway
Clarence Augustus Chapin was a machinist, and a man of modest means. His wife was Hettie Haag,
daughter of Benneville K. Haag, a wealthy and prosperous merchant in Milton, and builder of the
Hotel Haag at 29-31 South Front Street. We can assume it was money from her family that built this magnificent home. Clarence lived here with his wife Hettie and children Sarah, Ruth, Benneville, and Dorothy in 1910.
