Bottle Circa 1850 From Baker’s Brewery - Mahoning Street
Baker’s Brewery was located on the north side of Mahoning Street, at the end of Second Street, now lower Arch Street. The street runs right through the middle of the area where the brewery once stood. The brewery can be seen on both the 1858 and 1870 maps.
The bottle pictured is owned by Robert E. Lee, an amateur archaeologist, who located it during a dig in Danville, and was kind enough to allow me to photograph it. He told me this style of bottle was made between 1840 and 1855.
